The Libertad
The 1/2 Troy ounce coin has a purity of 99.9% gold. The Mexican Libertad is a gold bullion coin that is not as well-known in Europe as some of the other gold investment coins available, yet this coin is minted by the oldest mint in the world. The first gold Mexican Libertad was minted in 1981 and back then contained 22 carat gold. From 1991 all Libertads have been minted in 24 carat (99.99% pure) gold.

Design
The 1/2 Troy ounce Mexican Libertad gold coins hold the image of Victoria, the winged goddess of Mexico. The back of the coin is graced by Mexico’s coat of arms which is the national symbol of Mexico depicting an eagle standing on a cactus with a snake in its mouth.
