- How am I assured of authenticity?

Are you are looking for confirmation on paper for each item you buy? Then you can opt for precious metal products that come with a certificate of authenticity issued by the producer.
- What is the difference between gold bars that come with and without a certificate?
The various manufacturers of gold bars offer their products either with or without a certificate. A certificate is often integrated into the packaging and provides details about the gold bar, such as its weight and purity. This is an additional feature which is why you usually pay more for the bars that come with a certificate. Gold bars that come without a certificate are the same, but they do not come with this additional feature. Both types of gold bars remain easy to trade.
- Why are your gold products priced higher than the actual gold price?
The gold price indicates the value of the gold as a commodity. When you buy physical gold, this gold must be cast into a bar or minted as a coin. These products are made by a smelter or mint and this process comes at a cost. Before a gold bar reaches you, it will have been shipped to the Netherlands and as the selling party we will have provided you a service. If you were to pay only the current gold price for the physical gold you buy, it would mean that everyone in the chain – from smelter to Goudpensioen – would suffer a financial loss as a result. Therefore, you can understand that every party involved needs to profit from such a transaction in order to remain in business.
- Why are your silver products priced higher than the actual silver price?
Just like physical gold, silver products must first be cast into a bar or coin. Similar to buying a loaf of bread, where you expect to pay more than only the cost price of its ingredients, the same principle applies to products made from physical silver: all parties involved from production to delivery must profit from the transaction to remain viable. Moreover, when purchasing silver, also keep in mind that VAT is included in the sales price.
- Why are some products more expensive than others?
Although the price of precious metal products largely depends on current precious metal trading prices, this is not the only thing that influences the sale price. Price differences between products may be caused by differences in production costs, delivery costs or limited production numbers.
- What do the different coin qualities, such as UNC (uncirculated) and Proof, mean?
Coins that pass from hand to hand suffer a lot of damage and wear. This is due to the softness of the precious metal and external factors. These coins often have a dull appearance and visible scratches or dents. For this reason they are offered in circulated (used) condition.
Every minted coin starts out as an uncirculated, or UNC, coin. Newly minted coins have a sheen that quickly disappears when they come into circulation. Touching coins also diminishes this shiny appearance. Preferably, a UNC coin should not have any signs of wear. Nevertheless, a UNC coin may show minor scratches or dents. These imperfections are often caused by contact with other coins during the production process.

The coin stamp is polished while the deeper parts of the stamp remain rough, which preserves the relief and creates a nice contrast between the shiny and matte parts of the design. - What are LBMA Good Delivery bars?
The full abbreviation LBMA is the London Bullion Market Association. This England-based organisation was founded in 1987 with the aim of ensuring quality in the gold and silver industry. The LBMA maintains a Good Delivery List that includes mines, refineries and mints that meet their high quality standards. Goudpensioen offers you only gold and silver from companies that appear on this list. Examples of such companies are Umicore, Heraeus and Perth Mint.
- Is it better to buy coins or bars?
- Is it possible to view products before buying them?
The products we sell are shown as clearly as possible in the photos in our webshop. Only a limited number of products may be viewed in our store in Amsterdam. This is dependent on which products we have in stock in our store at the time of your visit. Therefore, it is not possible to view all products available to buy on our website prior to making your purchase.
- Do you have products available from stock?
Products available from stock are highlighted with a banner on the product page and an IN STOCK notification. These products are usually ready for shipping or collection within 1-2 business days. Please refer to the individual product pages for the expected delivery time of each product.
Please be aware: we have a varied and limited stock of products available for direct sale in our store. Therefore, a product may be in stock in our depot, but not in our store. If you would like to pick up specific products in our store, buy directly in our webshop and choose Click & Collect. You will receive a notification once your products are ready for collection. - Can I store the products I buy at your facility?
No, we do not store products for our customers. We believe it should be in your hands; storing precious metals yourself, means you will always have access to your gold and silver when you need it.
- What are the payment options?
- Is ID required for high purchase amounts?
We are required to request and keep a record of your valid ID for all orders exceeding € 10,000 cumulatively, regardless of payment method. We always adhere to the guidelines and legal regulations regarding the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft) and are obliged to report unusual transactions to FIU-Nederland. - Which price do I pay if gold rates rise or fall after I’ve placed my order?
Prices are set once we have confirmed your order is being processed and you have paid for it in full. You are required to pay for your purchase as soon as you have placed your order with us. When this is the case, you will receive the products for the price you paid for them even if precious metal rates rise or fall in the meantime.
- Do prices include VAT?
The prices on our website and in our store include VAT, if applicable.
- Are there any additional costs that I should take into account?
When choosing to receive your order by insured delivery to your address, you will also need to take delivery costs into account. For purchases in our Amsterdam store, there is a surcharge of 2% on webshop product prices. This is a service charge that covers the cost of manually processing your order.
- What is the delivery time?
The expected delivery time is indicated on the individual product pages in our webshop. After you have made your purchase, we will keep you updated on the status of your order. Please note that your order will not be ready for delivery until it is complete. When ordering products with and without a delivery time, the longest delivery time is leading. It is not possible to receive your order in parts.
- How will my order be shipped?
- Can I combine multiple orders into one shipment?
No, this is not possible, even if you have already placed an order that has not yet been shipped. We recommend that you order all desired products at the same time so that they can be sent to you in one shipment. If you place several orders in succession, you will need to pay shipping costs for each shipment.
- What happens if I am not home to receive my order?
Your order will be delivered to your shipping address only. A signature is required upon delivery. If you are not at home to receive your parcel, a second delivery attempt may be made or you can contact our shipping partner directly.

- Is ID required for pick-up?
Yes, when collecting your order we will need to see your valid ID (passport, Dutch driver’s license or ID card).
- When can I pick up my order in your store?
- Can someone else pick up my order on my behalf?
This is not possible. You are required to collect your own order with valid proof of identity.
- Can I add a product or make changes to my order?
After placing and confirming your order, it is no longer possible to make any additions or changes, even if you have forgotten a product. Further purchases can be made by placing new order. Please take into account the minimum order amount of 350,- Euros.
- Can I cancel or return my purchase of precious metals?
After placing and confirming your order of precious metals, it is no longer possible to change, cancel or return your order as purchases of precious metals are excluded from the statutory right of cancellation or return. We advise you to make an informed choice before placing your order. Of course, if you have questions you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact us first.
- I am having difficulty placing my order in the webshop, what now?
First check to see if there is an error message, which will indicate why your order has not been successful. For instance, this could be related to the minimum order amount of 200,- Euros. - Can I also buy gold anonymously?
Buying gold anonymously is possible depending on the total purchase amount and your order method. In accordance with the guidelines and legal regulations regarding the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft), we always reserve the right to refuse requests regarding the anonymous purchase of precious metals.
- Why are precious metal purchases excluded from the statutory right of return or cancellation?
Precious metal purchases cannot be revoked because developments on the financial market and fluctuations in precious metal trading rates greatly influence the retail price of precious metal products. As the selling party has no control over such developments, purchases of precious metals are, by law, excluded from the statutory right of cancellation or return. Before placing an order, we advise you to read individual product descriptions and specifications in order to make an informed choice. Do you have a question about a product or our services? - Do I need to declare my purchase of precious metals on my income tax return?
Owning precious metals may be considered an investment for declaration on your tax return. We are unable to inform you about specific situations and recommend that you discuss your own situation with your tax consultant.
- Can I sell my precious metals back to Goudpensioen?
