Its weight and gold content is guaranteed by the State. Each coin has a content of 9167/10000 gold, 533/10000 copper and 300/10000 silver. The 1/10 American Eagle coin contains 3,11 pure gold.
Legal tender
The gold American Eagle coins are considered legal tender in America although these are never used as such as the value of its gold is much higher than its nominal value. The face of the American Eagle depicts America’s proud ‘Lady Liberty’carrying a torch in her right hand as a sign of freedom. In her left hand she holds an olive branch of peace. The reverse of the gold coin shows the iconic American bald eagle.
