The front of the first 1 Oz Kangaroo 2016 silver coin has an impressive picture of a jumping kangaroo. Usually The Perth Mint chooses to depict the kangaroo amongst its natural habitat, but this first edition coin bears almost the same design as the anniversary edition of the gold Kangaroo coin series. The back of the first 1 Oz Kangaroo 2016 silver coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II.
