The 1 Oz Britannia 2023 is the purest silver British coin and is The Royal Mint’s flagship coin. It is minted in 999/1000 fine silver and has a face value of 2 GBP. However, its intrinsic value is much higher given that this coin has a weight of 1 troy ounce which is equal to 31.1 grams of silver. This is also the first edition to feature the portrait of King Charles III.
Features of the Britannia 2023 silver coin
Much attention has been paid to the design of this silver coin. The reverse shows an iconic image of Britannia with her helmet and shield. Britannia is the personification of Britain. Since 2015, the coin has been minted with a slightly updated design which includes a textured background. The flipside of the coin bears a contemporary portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
